What differentiate an entrepreneur from the employees? Can we define the difference in an explicit, unambiguous, unbiased way? Will our nature help us in this regard?
If we look at the nature carefully, it will tell how to differentiate entrepreneurs from employees in a corporate. Assume, corporate is like a honey bee hive. Every bee hive will have a queen bee and all the other bees in the hive are drones, workers or soldiers. All the bees invest their effort heavily on the queen as the queen only can produce eggs of next generation. Entrepreneurs are looked upon as future of the employees in most corporate. Every egg lay by the queen are well taken care of like how every employees listen and do what ever the entrepreneurs tell/want.
Always special stature and care is given the entrepreneurs like what is given to the queen bee in a bee hive. The entire bee hive belongs to the queen and all other bees are in the hive only because of the queen. The queen also needs the bees like how the entrepreneurs need employees in the organization.
The key difference between the entrepreneur and employee is like the difference between the queen bee and the rest in the bee hive. The workers and soldiers are typically like managers and officers and the drones are like the top management or coterie. They are the privileged lot to cross with the entrepreneur in an organization and develop the organization through the eggs of new plans and roadmap.
Every employee must ask themselves on what they are doing in the industry. Are they nursing the queen or trying to become a queen. This introspection will help you to understand your strength and acceptance. If you have a psychological need and desire to be with queen and care the hive, accept the fact that you are a born employee and live and die as an employee. If your aspirations are pushing you to become a queen, yes, the entrepreneur energy is driving you. Understand, strategies, create your opportunity and act. Certainly you will have your own hive, honey, drones, workers and soldiers as well.
Just gaze at the nature, draw your inspiration, learn and act. What you cannot learn from your industry, college or any academic institutions, nature will teach you. The learning will be for your life and not just for your knowledge or getting a job. When you taste the honey, remember, bees can make you another Bill Gates to taste the sweetness your life as well.
