Bee propolis is a resin that bees collect from plants to use in constructing hives. Long before humans ever did, bees have already adopted sterilization habits. Royal jelly has a complex chemical structure, it is produced as food for larva by the young nurse bees. Although royal jelly may not equal bee pollen in popularity, it does so in salutary effects.
Royal jelly is made by young nurse bees from the secretions made by the glands on the tops of their heads. For two to three days, the young larvae are fed royal jelly in their maturation process, while queen larvae are fed only royal jelly their whole lives. During the time the worker larvae are fed royal jelly, they develop fully; their weight multiplies about 250 times. The queen, who gets to eat only royal jelly her entire life, matures earlier than the workers by five days; and when fully grown, she’s twice as heavy as a worker bee. The life span of a worker bee is about 35-40 days; while the queen lives 5-6 years and is extremely prolific. The queen is fertilized once, and from then can lay as many as 3,000 eggs per day throughout the season. Incredible as that may seem, she can keep that up for five years.
Bees aren’t the only ones who find this rich concentration of food useful. It has large amounts of vitamins, lipids, proteins, glucides, hormones, mineral substances, enzymes, and specific vital factors that act as biocatalysts in cell regeneration processes inside the body.
