Fruit may actually be the best breakfast, but for some people, it's just not practical. Enter oatmeal. Oatmeal has not always gotten the best rap. It's been attributed to old ladies and granola loving hippies. It's been considered a bland breakfast and just not quite edible. I'm here to tell you that your morning oatmeal can be jazzed up in a way that is both palate pleasing and wellness promoting, giving you a strong, healthy, positive start to your day. The benefits of oatmeal are well-known and abundant. It's strongly linked to cholesterol reduction, weight loss & maintenance, cancer fighting, and has a strong vitamin and mineral profile, which includes Vitamin E, Selenium, Magnesium, and Iron. All of which are linked to energy, appearance, and longevity.
I prefer steel cut oats, and follow the cooking instructions on the can, which can be purchased at most grocery & healthfood stores. I like to add half of a banana thinly sliced, some raw walnuts, a little almond milk, and a sprinkle of stevia (a natural, calorie free sweetener) or turbinado (a raw, unprocessed sugar). These additions pump up the taste & the health benefits. Add oatmeal to your morning. You'll be glad you did. And if you need more convincing, perhaps this will do the trick.
Excellent idea! I've always loved oatmeal, but never even considered putting chopped up bits of fruit in it. I may actually give it a try!

Christina, it helps a ton. And sprinkling Stevia or a touch of brown sugar is yummy too. And I think nuts add a nice crunch for a little texture variety :)

Oh I always put brown sugar in mine. Can't do without it. ;)
Never tried the nuts though. I'll make sure I sprinkle some in the next time I make oatmeal.
